Vancouver is a SAFE PLACE

Darren Ramdour

Darren Ramdour

Police Officer

Mauritius is a small yet incredibly diverse island, lending back to its history of visitors and inhabitants from nearby continents. Darren Ramdour takes us on a journey back in time to tell us about this intriguing island, once home to the infamous dodo bird, and the birthplace of dance and music that was born from the positivity people needed to get through their everyday lives in enslavement.

Coming from a background that crosses four continents, it’s no surprise that Darren has such a strong connection to cultural communities in Vancouver. But he wasn’t always so active when he first arrived in Canada. Riding around downtown as a traffic officer on a hot summer day in 2018, what did he see along Granville Street that inspired him to engage in bringing the community together?
