Cinematic Taiwan

Our Thoughts

Our Thoughts

A concert that takes us back to the 17th century, using archaeology, sound technology, and contemporary art… Recreating the moment when Spain first landed in Taiwan during the Era of Exploration, and bringing us across time and space to the Taiwan of today.

Why did an Indigenous band from Taiwan embark on a tour through Canada? What did they find within their exchanges with the local Indigenous peoples of Canada, that prompted them to take a deeper look at their own cultural identity and find their true selves?

The creative arts is an expression of life, film and music the mediums. They not only create interactions with the present, but allow us to slip through the limitations of time, connecting us with the historical past while simultaneously building aspirations for the brilliant future. They break through the barriers of distance, bringing the far corners of the earth together to start a cross-cultural dialogue.

Following the theme BECOMING ME, Cinematic Taiwan invites everyone to follow these artists on a journey of exploring Taiwan and the self through the stories on the screen, and gain inspiration and courage to find your own self.
